MELVILLE, N.Y., August 8, 2017 – As enterprises strive to streamline workflow processes and increase productivity, Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, builds off the success of the uniFLOW platform, particularly its Secure Print functionality, and introduces uniFLOW 2018 LTS (Long Term Support). This solution is designed to further a user experience and the flexibility to send sensitive documents to compatible network printers from desktop and compatible mobile devices, and then print from virtually anywhere with authentication. uniFLOW 2018 LTS affords businesses the ability to perform printing, scanning, and device management from one, unified platform to a compatible MFP or scanner.

“Managed device volumes will continue to increase worldwide due to an increasing demand for mobile access to business content and applications,” says Bryan Bassett, research analyst for IDC’s Enterprise Mobility: Deployment Strategies program.

uniFLOW 2018 LTS is a cost-effective solution, now with enhancements that focus on resilience, reporting and the end users’ experience. In addition, since it is based on the One Platform concept, it can support select USB-connected Canon imageFORMULA Desktop Scanners. End users can readily distribute captured and processed documents to a variety of destinations, including standard locations, cloud-based platforms, and Document Management Systems (DMS)/Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems.

“Canon aims to stay on the cusp of technological innovation, which is why it designed the uniFLOW 2018 LTS with the office of the future in mind,” says Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “This uniFLOW solution can help both large and small-scale organizations with cost controls, implementation of document security features, employee productivity, and their environment initiatives.”
The new structural setup of the uniFLOW 2018 LTS resilience features is based on three pillars: automatic MEAP device failover, redundant spool file storage and intelligent print job distribution. This concept covers the overall print process to help limit losing any print jobs.

The redesigned, built-in reporting system can help organizations track and analyze printing, copying, faxing, and scanning usage to aid customers in discovering where they can control and reduce costs. Its new, more intuitive end-user interface, the uniFLOW User Web, enables workers to receive pop-up notifications from the uniFLOW server and access help pages with just one click. After authentication, end users can check available budgets, Secure Print job queues, and the authorization of pending jobs. Users are also able to manage their own registered identity types, such as PIN code and TIC code, saving the administrator time and effort.

“The new features and improvements of the uniFLOW 2018 LTS demonstrate Canon commitment to creating office products that empower customer business processes,” concludes Kuwamura. “The platform’s modular architecture allows enterprises to readily extend uniFLOW’s benefits across multiple business facets, and its expanded One Platform approach is designed to help enhance the core functionalities of uniFLOW to ultimately help improve product integrity and user satisfaction and save our customers valuable time and costs in their daily business processes.”
